Full course description

Palliative care clinicians who have experience in providing expert care for adults have many expert skills that can be engaged to provide much-needed care and support for children with palliative care needs and their families. There are many similarities between providing palliative care to children and adults, and experienced clinicians may be surprised to learn how much they already know about communications. Of course, there are important differences and a professional needs to learn how to understand them in order to better communicate with children and their families who need this care. Palliative care professionals learn from evidenced-based practice research, from other experienced clinicians, and most certainly from patients and families. When providing palliative care and communicating with children and their families, clinicians can learn so much. Often families are our best teachers.
